I’ve started a running list of feminine values I want to encourage in my son because The Matriarchy is coming and I want him to be ready for it!
What do I mean by The Matriarchy?
My vision of what The Matriarchy will be is not, “women ruling over men,” but both sexes (well, all is more accurate) governing society equally, but with a moral code based primarily on feminine principles. Eventually this will become a perfect balance between the feminine and the masculine (think yin and yang), but for now the focus must be more heavily on feminine values because they have been overlooked for so long.
Yes, I think women are the ones who will point the way as to how to achieve that, but we must be careful not to overlook boys and men. In order for The Matriarchy to rise, it is essential that we focus on changing the voice of The Patriarchy that is whispering in our sons’ ears and also we need to keep them from feeling like they are bad or wrong just because they were born male.
Here is what we need to encourage:
- Empathy
- Caring
- Consensus
- Dreaming
- Openness
- Sense of Community
- Nurturing
- Equality
- Appreciation of Beauty
- Importance of Self-Expression
- Living Sustainably
- Caring for Mother Earth
- Respect for Women
- A Strong Sense of Self Worth
This last value may be the most important for our boys because it’s the quality they are most in danger of losing as The Matriarchy is rising. In the beginning, as the patriarchal ways of being are dismantled, there will be a time of turmoil and anger. That anger will be directed at men (sorry, guys!) but we must not let that anger spill over onto our young boys.
These sweet babies we love so much must not grow up thinking they are bad or that they should be ashamed of their gender. We need to show them examples of positive masculinity and give them strong, positive, male role models. And our girls need this too. Our children need positive male role models just as badly as they need strong female ones.
The Matriarchy doesn’t mean women over men, it means strong women leading all of us in rebuilding a society where traditionally feminine values are in balance with traditionally male values. It’s a society made out of every gender, all infinity of them. And no one of those genders will be held above another. We will all be loved equally and let to be who we are. With liberty and justice for all.
Let’s take care, now, that our boys aren’t left behind even as we raise up our girls—and we will raise them up!!
