9/11/2001. You probably remember exactly where you were when the Twin Towers were hit. I was working in my children’s school as an art teacher at the time, and the news came on before the kids arrived. We watched the planes fly into the World Trade Towers. We looked on in disbelief. How could this happen? What did it mean? Who was responsible?
As the story unfolded, we had no idea how to go about our day. Do we close the school and go home? Are we safe? Do we tell the kids? If so, is there a guidance counselor who will know what to say? How does one even begin to comprehend the pain and sadness and grief?

Fifteen years later, as I reflect on 9/11, the images of the towers are still clear in my memory. But I’m also thinking about the lessons learned on that fateful day. I’m looking back with sadness while looking forward with urgency…
Here’s why: one of the core messages I take away from 9/11 is that we need to take stock of our lives right now. Stop pushing things off until tomorrow. Because there may not be a tomorrow.
According to Wikipedia, “the September 11 attacks killed 2,996 people and injured more than 6,000 others. These immediate deaths included 265 on the four planes, 2,606 in the World Trade Center and in the surrounding area, and 125 at the Pentagon.”
Thousands of people died that day. Thousands of people who never saw their family again, who didn’t get to fulfill a life’s dream.

Maybe it was a dream to have their own business. Or maybe it was to travel to China and see the Great Wall. Maybe they hoped to someday heal a broken relationship. Or maybe they never had the chance to find a partner to love. How sad.

How many tomorrows do you have?
We don’t know what tomorrow will bring. That’s why it’s so important to embrace the present. Would you do this for me? Would you take a moment today to reflect on your life?

Is there something you’ve been putting off for tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow?

Be honest with yourself. Are you truly happy? Is there something you’ve been putting off for tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow?

Please don’t put off what’s important any longer.
Take one small step today to make your dream a reality. Start saving money for that trip to China. Tell someone you love them. And if it’s love you’re seeking, do something today that’s way out of your comfort zone to attract the love you desire.
Join a meetup, sign up for an online dating site or app, contact an old flame, or a new potential flame, or someone who’s not your type at all. Mix it up. Whatever you do, as Nike says, JUST DO IT!

Does that feel scary? Good! The juicy stuff in life happens outside of your comfort zone.
And if you don’t know how to get started, get support. You don’t have to do it alone. Work with me (see my special offer below) or with another coach or therapist to help you get out of your romantic rut.
Because life happens in the blink of an eye. Don’t allow yourself to get to the end of the road with regrets.
Who’s with me?
