Diagnosed with cancer, W. Garth Callaghan is leaving a legacy of inspiration and love to his daughter.

I just found this story on Mashable the other day. It’s about a father who has chosen to influence his daughter in a positive way until she graduates high school, even though he may not be around to watch.
W. Garth Callaghan really doesn’t know how much time he has left on this earth but he sure knows how to leave his legacy through his family. He has been diagnosed with cancer 3 times since November, 2011, and according to Mashable, has about an 8% chance that he will live longer than 5 years.
He made it his mission to share every moment he can with his daughter by positively influencing her through napkin notes which he slips into her lunchbox before school. He started around the time she was in second grade.
When I clicked onto his Twitter & Facebook account, I was touched by the fact he took a vow to write out 826 notes, which is the amount of notes that she has until she graduates. The best part about this story is the fact that his daughter has no idea that he has written out all of these notes ahead of time.
Although he may not be there to see her graduate, walk her down the aisle, or even seeing her grow into the woman he knows she’ll become; he’s preparing her to live an extraordinary life. Isn’t that what fatherhood is all about anyway?
His notes are shared on his Facebook & Twitter account daily and can also be seen at www.napkinnotesdad.com
