Don’t worry, be wrappy.
I’m a firm believer that the little things in life make you happiest, and small annoyances can wear you down. The Stretch-tite Wrap’N Snap 7500 is a small purchase that solves one of life’s small annoyances and is sure to make you happier. It’s got a pretty fancy name, but all it does is dispense plastic wrap, and it does it perfectly. With it, you never have to worry about peeling out the next piece of wrap with your fingernails, getting rips and ruining half a roll while you get a perfect sheet. Not bad for a cheap piece of plastic which sells for only slightly more money than you would expect to pay for a cheap piece of plastic. The Wrap’N Snap works perfectly in conjunction with Stretch-tite wrap, which also happens to be a superior wrap. The Wrap’N Snap 7500 is available on Amazon. I suppose the 7500 comes from the fact that it can handle rolls up to 750 feet, but then why not call it the 750? Maybe it’s just an upgrade from the old 6500 model. Stretch-tite is available at all sorts of places including Costco.
How it Works
You take your wrap out of the box it came in and place it into the Wrap’N Snap. The Wrap’N Snap flips open and you can put your roll right in, then flip it shut. Pull out your first piece of wrap and press down on the top. I suppose that’s the Snap in Wrap’N Snap. Don’t expect a gratifying Snap though, it’s pretty silent. That’s it; when you go for your next piece there are some indents that allow you to pull out the next sheet with no hassle.
What’s the best plastic wrap?
It turns out there are two different types of plastic from which plastic wrap is made. PolyVinyl Chloride (PVC) is the original material plastic wrap was made from and was originally too toxic. Now the safer version is in wide use and is clingy but not impermeable. The other material is Low Density Polyethylene (LPDE), which is impermeable but less clingy. Stretch-tite uses PolyVinyl and is extremely clingy. It’s clingy on materials and to itself which is key. I’ll also go on record saying it is impermeable enough for my needs.
I was going to make my own video, but I could not have done a better job than the fine people at Stretch-Tite. The video features some of the fastest cheese wrapping in the world.
You can buy the Wrap’N Snap for $22 on Amazon. Happy wrapping.
